This book seeks above all to explain the text of John's Gospel to those who minister the Word of God to others, either by preaching or by leading Bible studies; however, the commentary is also designed for use by the informed layperson for purposes of Cited by: Excellent commentary, I just finished going through it while reading the Gospel of John.
Probably the best commentary I have read on this Gospel. There was a handful of passages I would have liked more depth on or dealt with differently, but overall a great resource/5(20). The Gospels, the first four books of the New Testament, tell the story of the life of only one—the Gospel of John—claims to be an eyewitness account, the testimony of the unnamed “disciple whom Jesus loved.” (“This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true” [John ]).
